How to get there

Getting there is easy. First, by plane to Stockholm (there are regular flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg), and then a little less than a day by train or about an hour and a half by plane. The most significant attraction, which is even mentioned in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is the church town of Hamelstad. Its “heart” is a miraculously preserved wooden church, founded in the 15th century. It is surrounded by more than four hundred wooden houses, which were built for the overnight stay of far-living parishioners. Many of them function to this day, allowing you to fully experience the flavor of history. Nearby is the tallest building in the city – the Centenary Church, made in neo-Gothic style. Its dome soared to a height of 67 meters.

Admirers of various historical and ethnographic expositions, exhibitions of modern photography are waiting in one of the largest museums in the country – Norrbotten. There is also a lot of information about the Sami and Swedish Lapland (Lulea is considered the gateway to this part of it). You can continue the “educational” excursions by visiting the northernmost university in the country, where tourists become spectators and participants in various experiments in the extraction of minerals, control of an airplane or train, and learn about the nature of various cataclysms.
