How to get there
Getting there is easy. First, by plane to Stockholm (there are regular flights from Moscow and St. Petersburg), and then a little less than a day by train or about an hour and a half by plane. The most significant attraction, which is even mentioned in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is the church town of Hamelstad. Its “heart” is a miraculously preserved wooden church, founded in the 15th century. It is surrounded by more than four hundred wooden houses, which were built for the overnight stay of far-living parishioners. Many of them function to this day, allowing you to fully experience the flavor of history. Nearby is the tallest building in the city – the Centenary Church, made in neo-Gothic style. Its dome soared to a height of 67 meters.
Admirers of various historical and ethnographic expositions, exhibitions of modern photography are waiting in one of the largest museums in the country – Norrbotten. There is also a lot of information about the Sami and Swedish Lapland (Lulea is considered the gateway to this part of it).
